Lately I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on my skin, so I thought I’d share with you guys my daily skincare routine and the products I use to get that bare face glow.
Step 1: Cleanser – I use Drunk Elephant’s Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser. What I love about this product is that it’s great for all skin types and removes makeup, excess oil and other pollutants. It’s very gentle and the best part is that it’s free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates.
Step 2: Toner – To be honest, I never added toner into my skincare regimen but after educating myself, toner is an essential part to anyone’s routine. Toner adds vital skin-replenishing ingredients immediately after cleanings. Also helps diminish the looks of redness and dry patches, while removing the last traces of makeup.
I use Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner – I love the smell and the way it makes my skin feel immediately after I use it. I highly recommend this toner!
Step 3: Serum – I am OBSESSED with serums. This is a very important step in your skincare regime and should not be skipped. Serums penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active ingredients. This makes them great for targeting specific skincare concerns such as wrinkles, dullness or dehydration.
My morning go-to serum is Caudalie’s Vinoperfect Radience Serum. I love this serum as it reduces dark spots, blemishes and sun damage. After using this product for two weeks I noticed a more brighter complexion.
Step 4: Eye cream – Also a very important part of your skincare routine. The skin around your eye are more fragile, prone to dryness and quicker to show age or fatigue. I’m loving the Origins GinZing™ Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff. I love the smell of the product and the natural optic brighteners rapidly wakes up tired eyes. It also helps reduce dark circles and unsightly bags, refreshing to restore a radiant look.
A lot of people tend to put eye creams directly under their eyes but this is an absolute no-no! This can cause a build up of oil right underneath your eye, which causes small white bumps to develop.
The proper way to apply eye cream is to dab a small amount across the brow and socket bone moving from the inner to outer corner of the eye.
Step 5: Moisturize with sunscreen – Lastly, I apply Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ for long lasting all-day hydration. This moisturizer does not include a SPF but I’ll use a foundation that has an SPF of 15.
PSA: Applying sunscreen shouldn’t be reserved for the summer holidays. Protecting the skin on a daily basis from UV rays will avoid the development of dark spots, wrinkles and fine lines.
It’s essentially the same as my morning with routine with a couple of add-ons.
Step 1: Cleanser – I always double cleanse in the evening. I feel a deep cleanse is never more essential than in the evening, to not only remove makeup but all the airborne bacteria and pollution that was attracted to your skim throughout the day.
As my first cleanser I use Origin’s Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Micellar Cleanser. I’m obsessed with the Dr. Weil’s Origins line as I have very sensitive skin and the formula doesn’t irritate and leave my skin feeling refreshed and super soft.
Next, I’ll go into a deeper water-based cleanse with the Drunk Elephant’s Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser.
Step 2: Toner –Same product as my morning routine, I use the Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner.
Step 3: Exfoliate – I exfoliate my skin maybe twice a week, the reason I don’t do it daily is because my skin is very sensitive and I don’t want to constantly strip my skin of its natural oils (that’s how breakouts occur!). But it is good to use an exfoliating cleaner to gently remove built-up dead skin for smoother, noticeably renewed skin.
My choice of exfoliate is GLAMGLOW’s YOUTHCLEANSE™ Daily Exfoliating Cleanser. I love how it turns into a foaming later and that it makes my skin feel so smooth and fresh.
Step 4: Serum – For nighttime I mix Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum and Drunk Elephant’s Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil. I swear and live by these two serums, my face feels so hydrated immediately after use, and when I wake up in the morning my face feels so luxe.
The T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum is a gel and helps with dryness, fine lines, wrinkles and discolouration.
The Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil is to die for! The oil isn’t too oily and absorbs quite quickly into your face. It also helps in reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, redness, and blotchiness, with improvement in skin’s elastic feel.
When you mix the two serums together, it just works wonders!
Step 5: Eye Cream – I fell in love with Estèe Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream Synchronized Complex II, it’s a hydrating gel-cream but I love it’s luxurious texture and it’s not heavy. (Another great product within this line is the Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II – it’s not an eye cream, it’s a night serum but leave my skin smoother and hydrated; this is a must try).
Step 6: Moisturize – You haven’t felt luxury until you’ve tried, Drunk Elephant’s Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream. This moisturizer meets all my needs; it’s specifically formulated for dryness, loss of firmness and elasticity. My skin has never felt and looked so good after using this product.
And that’s my coveted daily skincare routine, guess my secret is out!
Keep on glowing!
