Ways to Stay Motivated

Life has a way of challenging you. These challenges will help defy who you are as a person and make you even stronger than you were before. Now there are two types of people in the world – survivors and quitters. Survivors are those who preserver and keep the ‘hustler’ mindset when times get rough. And quitters, well that’s self explanatory.

In the first few short months of 2019, I can say that life has definitely challenged and pushed me to my limits, in my personal life and career. Even through all the bullshit, I’ve maintained a sense of strength to keep pushing for my short – and long term goals. I’m a firm believer that if you work hard, you can conquer the world, so it’s in this post that I want to share a few tips on ways to help you stay motivated (as it’s been helping me).

  1. Set your goals with milestones
Setting clear and specific goals will help you hone in on what you’re trying to achieve. If you goal is too obscure, you won’t be able to focus in on what you really want. The more specific your goals, the more motivated you’ll be and the more likely you’ll succeed. By setting milestones towards you goals, you’ll be about to see the short-term markers on the route to achieving your goal.
  2. Cut-out distractions
Depending on your goal, you may need to limit certain aspects of life including television, phone time and even social interactions. If you’re serious about your goal then you need to get serious about how you use your time!
  3. Change your locations
Sometimes you need a change of scenery. If you’re stuck at home all day you are bound to lose motivation – you’re seeing and experiencing the same stuff day in and day out. Getting out of your comfort zone can help you be more productive and can even inspire new thoughts and creativity.
  4. Make a plan
I know I’m a very organized and visual person. So, I need to write down my plans to ensure I have something to always look back to. This will also allow yourself to think through the entire process from start to finish and in the process it can even spark new ideas and improve productivity. PRO TIP: Buy an agenda – honestly, it’s a game changer and it keeps me on track and organize since everything I need to do accomplish is in once place.
  5. Go for a walk
When you’re really focused on one project, it can get to a point where it seems very daunting and you feel stuck. Walking away from what you’re doing for a bit can help you clear your head and re-focus on your purpose.
  6. Stop worrying over what you can’t control
Honestly, shit happens! Don’t dwell on situations you can’t control or it may just hinder your progress. Take your moment and then move on with your life! The sooner you get it over, the sooner you can move towards your next victory.
  7. Visualize your future
If you can see what your end goal will look like and the feeling you’ll get once you achieve it – this will fuel you on days you don’t feel like working.
  8. Celebrate accomplishments (big or small)
Take time to recognize your own achievements. Celebrate them with a glass of champagne or treat yourself with a night out. This will encourage a positive morale within yourself and will make you strive to complete more goals. GET IT GIRL!
  9. Surround yourself with those who lift you up
I think this is super important! If you surround yourself with naysayers and negative people then that’s the energy you’ll likely have. But if you surround yourself with those who exude positive energy, you’re most likely to be more motivated and inspired. Engage with those who have the same passions are you do.
  10. Revisit the reasons for your goals
There are times where you can make a goal and realize later that this goal no longer serves your purpose and that’s okay! This is why you should revisit your goals – if you want to get motivated and stay motived, you need to have real reasons to why you made that specific goal. Look at your goals and give reasons why you’re willing to do anything and everything to make it a reality – if the reasons don’t seem genuine to you anymore then maybe it’s time to find a new goal.

Every day is a new day to continue to fight for what you want.

Keep reaching for the stars, friends!
