Skincare Essentials I Travel With

Skincare can be challenging while travelling – especially when you’re travelling light (these products can get heavy!)  If you’re like me you need all your skincare products to keep you looking your best and you can’t exactly sacrifice anything that is a part of your daily skincare routine.

I’m an avid traveller and have learned a few tricks over the years on how to maximize my beauty and skincare essentials kit without going over my allocated check-in baggage allowance. So, in this post I’ll cover my favourite skincare essentials that keep me looking and feeling great while living out of a suitcase.

When it comes to travelling and skincare, I do have multiple serums and moisturizers and, obviously I can’t bring them all with me, but I do have my favourites that I can’t live without. The key is really finding your favourites in travel size – this really helps when it comes to ensuring your products do not exceed the airport liquid restriction amount and it saves space.

I truly believe that just because you’re travelling doesn’t mean you should cut corners on your skincare routine – in fact, you should probably take care of your skin even more. We all know those airplanes just soak-up all your moistures and dries out your skin instantly due to cabin pressure, re-cyced air and lack of oxygen. All these factors can just weak havoc on your complexion making it prone to dehydration, increased sensitivity and a lack of radiance (gross!). So, first things first when packing your carry-on you need to ensure to pack a few plane-proofing essentials:

  • sheet mask

This should be the number thing you should have in your carry-on, as it helps maintain your skin’s hydration through a long or short haul flight. I recommend Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Hydrating 100% Hydrogel Mask . This mask is formulated with hyaluronic acid and it instantly quenches dry skin.

  • Face wipes

Keeps your skin refreshed before and after any sleeping you do. Also, since the bathrooms are really tight this is an easy in-your-seat cleansing option. I’m a huge fan of the Sephora Collection cleansing wipes, one of my favourites is the watermelon one as its meant for hydration

  • A lip mask

Don’t forget your lips! The Sephora collection Lip Mask is also a favourite of mine.

  • Moisturizer

I think this is a no-brainer. I took Clinque’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel with me on my long-haul flight to the Philippines (check out my El Nido and Bohol travel guide) and it really did the trick. This moisturizer is lightweight, fast absorbing and very hydrating.

  • Serum

Using a serum will help moisturize, nourish and hydrate your skin to combat the super-dry plane. I’m obsessed with Drunk Elephant’s Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, it also comes in a convenient travel size!

  • Lip balm

I hate the feeling of dry, chapped lips, especially when flying. My go-to lip balm to moisturize is Fresh’s Sugar Lip Treatment. It comes in a variety of shades from sheer to buildable colour.

  • Sunscreen

You’re not off the hook from your daily sun-protection regiment! Even though you’re in a plan, you still need SPF on your skin – keeping your window open during daytime flights can cause skin damage too. During my travels in Asia, La Roche Posay’s Anthelios XL Cream SPF 60 was my choice of sunscreen (I did a blog post on my top 5 sunscreens, so if you want to learn about other options, check it out here).

  • Hand Cream

I live by the Lano Rose Hand Cream Intense – This is great for very dry hands and nails. Immediately after I use this on my hands , they feel super soft and truly hydrated.
