I’ve added a new Christmas Day tradition: mulled wine! It’s super simple to make a home – try it out for yourself:
1 (750 ml) bottle of dry red wine (I used a cab sauv)
1 orange, sliced into rounds
8 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise
2 sugar or honey (add more if you like it really sweet
1/4 cup brandy
Combine all ingredients in a pot on medium-heat until it reaches a simmer. Do not boil or you’ll boil off all the alcohol (we wouldn’t want that!).
Reduce to low heat, cover and let simmer for 30min or up to 3 hours. Garnish with extra cinnamon sticks, orange slices and star anise.
